The US as a Nation

I am really quite concerned. Today i saw an article in the paper about prop 8, and i wonder for the first time how God feels about this.

I have always figured God wants me to be responsible for everything me. I think i need to think on a bigger scale. God is infinite and as such he's intimately aware of every person on the planet as he is with me. On a big scale our country has to be really disappointing to God.

Our country is so frustrating to me, what can I do, I'm only one. So I kinda adopted the detached mindset and shrugged off the responsibility, thinking what is important before God in my life is me and my people.

I've been going to and old testiment bible study for years now, where I read how God interacts with the nation of israel. It is pretty stinkin clear to me God cares about the US, which is really really really bad. The US as a culture openly ignores morality, the existance of God, consequence, and any kind of universal truth.

So now what? It seems to me that I am late on this one. We must do something. Look into what i'm saying, look at the old testiment. Yes, God care about our hearts so fake morality is no good. I still think God is upset with our nation. Let's see how God can change this situation through us. Pray about it, see if what i saw is right or not.

    hopeHay, I agree with you, the US has sunk pretty low. You are not late on your concern for our country, because you do realize something needs to be done by each of us, prayer is an excellent place to start, If my people, who are called by my Name, will humble themselves and Pray......Ask God for wisdom, He will give it to you liberally, study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of TRUTH! We need to get our facts about what’s really going on in our country, don't believe only the newspapers, or local television news, investigate, find truth, and make sure it jives! Call your congressmen, tell them how you feel about certain issues. Sign petition's from well know bible scholars like the ACLJ, James Dobson, etc. After doing all you can do, Rest in knowing it's all in God's hands! La ya bunches Jona...

Security of faith

I love science, it really jives well with my OCD, and who doesn't have a touch of OCD these days? Pure science is a logical process applied to something for the purpose of uncovering an unbiased truism. The truth can then be tested in every conceivable way and become well defined. Then you really got something! Science, in its innocence, is a beautiful thing and is to be aspired to. Unfortunately people can be better at the logical process than others, and so ensues the bitter sweet power struggle. Which brings all the fun of politics careening into the pursuit of truth. When people start lying about stuff and you get a bunch of people to agree to lie too, you have the monstrosity of popular science. Charismatic scientist can leverage their findings against ideas they deem offensive. Science and logic, like everything else, can be twisted into weapons to oppress. I thought too highly of science coming out of high school. I had my faith, which i could defend logically fair decently.

Motivation for studying theology

You know when you meet someone new and you totally jive with them. You want to ask them a million questions because you just met your new close friend. You can't wait to spend time getting to know them and could easily spend hours talking with them. You end up with quite a large collection of facts about them, but more importantly, you feel like you kinda know who they are to some degree. Over the course of getting to know them maybe your initial assumptions were proved wrong and you're all the happier for it. You find yourself trying to adapt their best qualities into your life thereby enriching yourself through them. I submit that studying theology could be, even should be like that.
